Dana Smith
Boston-based shooter Dana Smith is a widely published magazine photographer both nationally and overseas. His photos appear in publications such as Bloomberg/BusinessWeek, The New York Times Magazine, Newsweek, Time, Fortune, Stern, MIT's Technology Review, Boston, and Yankee. He has also worked for many years with Boston College, Northeastern, Harvard, and Brown University, and his work has been showcased in American Photography. In addition to his vast editorial background, he has the daily grind of 10 years of newspaper photojournalism experience behind him.
Recently, Dana has been fixated on 'Suburbanscapes', photographing in various middle to lower-class American neighborhoods in the Northeast. He also has a love for ambrotypes, as well as vintage and family snapshots. The effects of the natural physical wear & decay of these treasured but aging images inspire and often find their way into his assignment work.
Smith is also an instructor in both the professional and workshop programs at New England School of Photography in Boston, where he has taught since 1999.
