Blake Gordon
Athletics and architecture form the backbone to Blake Gordon's photographic work. Culminating at the elite college level, he developed his athletic sense primarily through baseball, though regularly pursues the perfect line through climbing, skiing, swimming, biking and other modes of moving. His architectural sense was developed through studies in landscape architecture and, later on, design. The two are mutually refined in his exploration of the world.
From cycling the Pan-American Highway to the ritual form of morning swimmers, narratives of people and their environment communicate the human element in his work. His observation of landscape extends to people, and likewise his portraiture extends to place.
His work has been published in PDN, Smithsonian, NPR, Outside, National Geographic Adventure and others national outlets. He attended Barnstorm XXI of the Eddie Adams Workshops and has been a member of Aurora since 2008. During respite from movement, he can often be found in Austin, TX or near the Rocky Mountains in Colorado.
